The Scripture Identifies the Blessed and the Ungodly

Subject: The Scripture Identifies the Blessed and the Ungodly

Scripture Reading: Psalm 1

Memory Verse: Psalm 1: 6

Objective: To take a deeper look at ‘self.’

1.     Why is a truthful self-analysis absolutely necessary according to Psalm 1: 6 ?

2.     How do we understand from scripture that ‘walking in the counsel of the ungodly’ is more than physically walking, but also acceding to and carrying out the dictates of such persons? 1 Corinthians 15: 33 - 34, Acts 5: 1 - 10

3.     In what way did Jesus harshly criticize those who were expected to teach the law? Matthew 23: 13, 15, 27 - 31

4.     In what way was king David rebuked for ‘standing in the way of sinners’? 2 Samuel 12: 1 - 14

5.     How does the writer of Psalm 1 describe the ‘blessed man’? Psalm 1: 2 - 3; What is the description and destiny of the ungodly? Psalm 1: 4 - 5 & 6b

6.     What are some other attributes of the ‘blessed man’ according to Matthew 5: 1 - 12?

Note: Questions to be considered and adjustments to be made if I want to be truly blessed:

·       Why do I still ‘show my face’ at wedding receptions, graduations, funerals, and other social events planned for the Sabbath?

·       How long can I continue to make excuses for the fact that I just lay the shopping bags on the kitchen table at sunset?

·       Where are my children at sunset, and what are they engaged in at that time?

·       What programmes do I watch or listen on the Sabbath?

Help is only a prayer away. We are no longer slaves to sin.
